This week marked an important milestone for me as a bike lover and father.  We were recipients of a 3rd tier hand-me-down 12" Strider bike for my son.  It took a year or so for him to have much interest and to get the hang of sitting on the seat and pushing his way around.  A couple months ago, I started raising the seat and handlebars a bit more often.  He had not completely maxed out the stem or seat post, but he began to look a bit too big for the setup.  I began looking for a new ride for him and found a gently used Strider 14x on social media.  I expected a bit of separation anxiety from his old bike, but he was so excited to get a new bike, he hasn't looked back!  Last weekend, we went on what I know will be the first of many bike rides together.  Pretty cool to not only watch your kiddo participate in a shared passion, but to get to ride together was one of my proudest papa moments yet!

ShadeTree is back for this spring! After a hiatus over the past little while to watch my little dude grow, we are back at it to enjoy the outdoors on two wheels!  Tell us what outdoor dreams and goals you have for this new year.  We are looking to ride more, laugh more and connect more with nature and being outdoors.  Our family started the 1000 hours challenge for the third year in a row and have already accumulated nearly 50 hours this year!  Even if you don't make it to 1000, it's a good way to track how much time is spent outside and celebrate!  I look forward to a new season with all of you in spirit.

So this last year has been wild.  The best parts, working on and riding bikes and spending time with my son.  Now that the world is opening back up, it's so nice to see people's smiling faces and doing the things they enjoy.  I've gotten to build a few bikes for people that have just moved to the area, and seeing their excitement made me remember how much cool stuff there is to do outside of our home zones.   

Originally, I was going to delete this page for a static bio page. My wife has run a successful blog nearing a decade, so I thought it may be cool to document some of the rides we take as a family to share them here.  Anyways, here’s that riveting bio:
